Until now there has been no way to reliably quantify metallomic images due to the lack of appropriate calibration matrices. METALLOMIC now solves this problem with BIO-logi-CAL standards based on work by the University of Vienna (see https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00216-021-03357-w ).
The Vienna team have developed a method of micro-spotting gelatin-based calibration sets onto glass slides, and an accurate weight is recorded for each spot. A set of spots of increasing concentration is quantitatively ablated using the same instrumental parameters as for metallomic imaging of unknown samples. The data for each spot is amalgamated and corrected for the accurate weight to form a calibration curve for each element of interest. This is used to indicate the concentration of elements in the image of unknown samples via color intensity, generating quantitative metallomic images!
Two slide types are available:
1) 26 elements, 5 standards from 0 to 4000 fg (2000 for Si; 40,000 for K): Be, B, Na, Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Mo, Ag, Cd, Sb, Ba, Tl, Pb
2) 48 elements , 5 standards from 0 t0 4000 fg: Li, Be, B, Na, Mg, Al, P, K, Ca, Sc, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Y, Cd, In, Cs, Ba, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Re, Tl, Pb, Bi, Th, U
Each slide contains 50 calibration sets.
The Certificate of Analysis and NIST traceability is provided for the primary standard for each standard type. Quality control is performed by our producer by batch.
